Pinecone Spoon Sweet

I am not crazy! 

In Russia and Gerogia they have it as a traditional spoon sweet and they have been making it for years..  Sypup especially used to cure the common cold.

Found out about it from my friend Yanna Balafouti... and wanted to give it a try! 

So... where did I find the tiny pinecones? Well, remember that snow last month? and all these trees that were knocked down? Well in the park around my house I found many and collected them and gave it a try! 

So... if you suffer from spring Alergies you do not make it.. it can be deadly for you.. Other than that feel free to give it a try! 

Also the pictures are misleading.. We are talking about tiny saucers... coffee is real though!

Pinescones up to 3cm long.. Mine were tiny (about 1 cm)





Wash the pinecones.

Bring them to a boil.

Strain and throw away the water. 

Repeat once more.

Weigh the pinecones and put in a pot with same weight in sugar and half the ammount of water.

Bring to a boil. 

Let it cool down overnight.

Next day boil again till temp of syrup is 104-108 C

Store in a clean sterilized glass container.
